Help dreams come true by attending the 10th annual Hats Off For Hospice fundraiser on Sunday, March 30 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Texas Old Town in Kyle. Hats Off For Hospice is a family BBQ event that raises money for CTMC Hospice Care's wish granting program, Dream A Dream,? said Lisa Adams, community relations coordinator for Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC). ?This is our 10th year anniversary for Hats Off. In that time, CTMC has grown as a hospital. We are very excited to announce the opening of a new CTMC Inpatient Hospice Unit in November, so proceeds from Hats Off will also benefit this unit.? This year?s music entertainment features Stoney LaRue. LaRue plays music that combines the rootsy, emotionally honest sound of country with the fun-living swagger of heartland rock and a dash of the moody undercurrents of the blues. LaRue was born to a musical family. His father played bass in a number of local bands, and he grew up listening to the country and Southern rock that would inform his later work. When he was a teenager, LaRue's family pulled up stakes for Oklahoma, and with time, LaRue would become part of the Stillwater, OK, "Red Dirt" musical community, along with likeminded acts such as Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland and Mike McClure. The Red Dirt Album earned enthusiastic reviews and cast a stronger focus on LaRue's skills as a songwriter. Food for Hats Off for Hospice is sponsored by Black?s BBQ. There will be one-of-a-kind door prizes. Children can enjoy fun activities such as tractor trailer rides, a ?Say Cheese? Photo Booth, Moonwalks courtesy of Awesome Jumps and Walks, face painting courtesy of Hope & Love 4 Kids, the Kiddie Express Train and more. Guests are encouraged to bid on items in the live auction including framed and signed jerseys by Texas A&M?s Heisman Trophy Winner Johnny Manziel, five-time league MVP and Super Bowl XLI Champion Quarterback Peyton Manning, Houston Texans? Andre Johnson and JJ Watt, Dallas Cowboys running back and three-time Super Bowl Champ Emmitt Smith, and acoustic guitars signed by George Strait and Alan Jackson. There will also be a silent auction including autographed cowboy hats by Kevin Fowler, Jack Ingram, Joe Nichols, Eli Young Band and more. Other items include his and her jewelry, cowboy boots, golf packages, two 3-day 2014 ACL Music Festival tickets, bed and breakfast stays, western belts and more. There will also be an opportunity to win a 4-night, 5-day family trip for six to Ruidoso, New Mexico. Winner does not need to be present at the event to win. Whether you like to ski or golf, horseback ride or shop, there is something for everyone in Ruidoso all year round. Tickets are $25 each or three for $50.
