4th Annual Cesar E. Chavez Day Celebration
We cordially ask for your presence at this year’s 4th Annual Cesar E. Chavez Day Celebration in Lockhart, Texas. The event will be held on Saturday March 23, 2013 and will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the South steps of Lockhart City Hall on Market Street. There will be a proclamation recognizing the efforts of Cesar E. Chavez the co-founder of the United Farm Workers. Cesar worked for fair working conditions and wages for farm workers through peaceful demonstrations such as fasts and strikes. There will be musical performances, readings from our youth, and a guest speaker.
After the ceremony at city hall we will march down Market Street around the Caldwell County Courthouse and back to City Hall for a reception in the Sam Glosserman Room. To show solidarity and support for this event we encourage everyone to wear RED.
Note: Cesar E. Chavez Day is recognized on March 31, which was his birthday. It is still not a recognized federal holiday but is an optional state holiday here in the State of Texas and through out the U.S.
