Volunteers are essential to the work of the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center and fill a number of roles including responding to hospital calls, answering the hotline, providing childcare and doing administrative work. We welcome compassionate, caring men and women who want to make a difference in the struggle against domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Our volunteers represent HCWC, so we believe it is important to empower each volunteer with a greater understanding of the issues surrounding sexual and domestic violence.
We are accepting applications for Volunteer Advocates to participate in our fall training. The 40-hour training is a Sexual Assault Advocate Training Program certified by the Texas Office of the Attorney General. It includes on the job training, to be completed after the classroom portion.
Fall classes run from September 10-26 and cover topics including the dynamics of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault, crisis intervention skills and the role of the advocate in assisting victims. Read more, download the volunteer application and class schedule here.
